In oil cooled transformer it is necessary to observe and control the temperature of Transformers for continues and uninterrupted power supply, For these Oil Temperature Indicator & Winding Temperature Indicator (OTI & WTI) must be present in Transformer while they are in services.
Top oil is sensed by the sensing bulb connected to the instrument through Capillary in closed system fashion. As liquid expands with temperature, pressure increases inside the closed system which in turn moves the temperature pointer. OTI works without external power for its operation and indicates corresponding oil temperature on front panel.
